What’s your kind of love song?
There is a time and place for everything, especially when picking the perfect song to set the mood for the evening. In this article we have taken some of the most popular love songs from this era and layed them out before you to pick and choose. There are obviously many more songs, but we felt these songs were unique enough to deserve more recognition than they are currently receiving. It is highly likely that you have heard of a good portion of these songs, but I can guarantee that there are a few that you have not yet heard. Believe me when I say you’ll be glad you took the time to google them.
#10. Hero – Enrique Iglesias
Have you ever needed a hero, someone to kiss away the pain? If your answer is yes, then listen to Hero by Enrique Iglesias. Your heart will be so open and susceptible to romantic waves. This song hit the top of the charts in the 90s, but yet never got old. If you are lucky, you will still hear it at junior high and high school dances. It is the kind of song that makes your heart race with excitement and gives you the urge to ask someone to dance immediately. However, it is also the song that makes you feel extremely lonely if you are too shy to ask someone to dance, so be sure to gather your muster and ask him/her to dance.
#9. Young Forever – Jay-Z & Mr Hudson
You may recognize this song from its original version that was sung by Alphaville. We all know that if anyone can bring an old classic back to the top of the charts, it’s Jay-Z. In this remixed version, Jay-Z and his crew used audio editing software to resurrect this timeless love song. The beat is definitely more modern, but you can definitely hold a good slow rhythm on or off the dance floor. Young Forever creates the perfect conception of young love that will last forever and can be haltered by nothing.
#8. Forever – Chris Brown
This song creates a different kind of tone for the evening. It is not a song that you slow dance to, it is more of an evening enhancer. For example, you and your sweetheart are sitting in a car overlooking the city lights. You have just had a long chat about where the relationship may take you, at which point you plug in your iPod and play Forever, which will then enhance the allure of the evening. You can take it to the dance floor, but it is an up-beat piece of music and may create a stumbling block for those who can’t dance. Consider yourself warned.
#7. Everything – Michael Bublé
This modern day Frank Sinatra has incorporated his unique voice to bring back the old-fashioned love song music. Michael Bublé gets more and more popular with each catchy tune he brings to the radio. Everything came out in 2007 and has sense struck the hearts of the millions of hopeless romantics across the globe. Yet again, this is not a slow song for the dance floor. It is a fun tune you’ll want to blast as you start your evening extravaganza with your cherished soul mate.
#6. Modern Nature – Sondre Lerche and Lillian Samdal
World, I would like you to meet Sondre Lerche. He is a Norwegian musical genius. He was the master mind behind the clever love songs found in the recent film “Dan in Real Life.” Modern Nature is a clever musical piece that will have rekindle any love and bring it back to the first stages of courtship. It is a fun piece of music sung by two unfamiliar voices. Lillian Samdal creates the perfect accent to Lerche’s musical talents. When you put their voices together, sparks fly and the lights get turned down low.
#5. She’s Everything – Brad Paisley
We are going to take a shift back to the slow dreamy love songs. She’s Everything is the classic country song that’ll make any girl blush. It has just the right rhythm to ignite a love connection on the dance floor. Brad Paisley uses cute little analogies to inform you of how perfect true love can be. Though this is a country song, it is sure for success on any dance floor. Choose your partner wisely because this song is a little longer than most love songs. And if it all works out, you’ll be coming back for more.
#4. It’s Your Love – Tim McGraw & Faith Hill
This may be the duet of duets. Faith Hill and Tim McGraw have done many duets together, but this just may be their best one. First off, they are married, which makes any duet more intense; and second, you can tell how in love they are by how they sing. This may not be the ideal song to dance to with a person you just met. I would save this one until you have gone out a few times and are ready to take things up a notch. Because the song is so straight forward, it will either make or break the evening. To ensure it will make the evening, be sure to dance with someone that shares the same feelings, or else you are ripe for a few awkward moments on the dance floor.
#3. Out of my league – Stephen Speaks
Chances are that you have not heard of this song before. That is probably a good thing because you were not yet ready for it. Buckle up! One time over the stereo is all he/she will ever need. But I must warn you, your future spouse will be expected to sing this at the wedding rehearsal or dinner. It is that good! It features an unforgettable piano piece and powerful lyrics. Stephen Speaks is not very popular, but this song could take him to the top. The lyrics are very clever and deserve to be recognized on this top 10 list on great love songs that enhance romantic evenings.
#2. Making Memories of Us – Keith Urban
Romantic songs would be a thing of the past if it weren’t for Keith Urban. He has impacted high school dances and year books for the past decade. Even though we could have put a number of Keith Urban’s songs on this list, we chose to put Making Memories of Us on this list because it is his most memorable song and is very common on the dance floor. But do not be mistaken, this is not a song only to be used on the dance floor. It is also perfect for setting the mood for a nice candle-lit dinner on the back patio and rose pedals trickled across the table cloth.
#1. When you come back down – Nickel Creek
Love songs can be over played and all too common, but this song fits just right on this top 10 list. It was on the radio a few years back. You probably don’t remember it right off the bat, but give it time. A few rounds of this song and you’ll be rockin’ your way to the dance floor ready to pull some smooth moves with your honey-bun. With fantastic lyrics, a soothing melody and angelic vocals, he/she won’t be able to say no. You could possibly use this song as a cheat code to score some points. So which love song are you?
